All About 2018 Winter Olympics
Finally, 2018 Winter Olympics is over. Officially known as 'XXIII Olympic Winter Games,' this prestigious sports event was held in PyeongChang, South Korea from 9th to 25th February 2018. With the motto of 'PASSION', and 'CONNECTED' which were read as 'Hanadoen Yeoljeong' in the Korean language, Olympics 2018 indeed brought North Korea and South Korea closer.
Pyeongchang was selected as the host city of this Winter Olympics ahead of Munich (Germany) and Annecy (France). During the July 2011 session in Durban, South Africa, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had announced South Korea as the host for 2018 Winter Olympics. This was South Korea's first Winter Olympics and the second Olympic event after the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. The IOC had also announced that Beijing (China) would host the 2022 Winter Olympics whereas Tokyo (Japan) would host the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Olympics 2018 Opening Ceremony, Venue, and Mascots
Opening Ceremony
In Pyeongchang Olympics, the opening ceremony was organized on 9th February 2018 at the newly created Olympic Stadium. South Korean President Moon Jae-in had officially given the go for Olympic 2018 event to begin.
Olympics 2018 Venues
Among 15 different breathtaking venues, both the opening and closing ceremony had held in the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium. To facilitate players and sports lovers, all the venues were in and around the city of PyeongChang.
Mascots for the Event
'Bandabi' and 'Soohorang' were the Olympic mascots for the South Korean Winter Olympics. As part of the fun-filled mascot selection process, these mascot designs were highly loved by kids and Olympic fans around South Korea.
Sports Events Organized in This Winter Olympics
102 events in 15 sports were organized in Winter Olympics 2018. A total of 2992 athletes from which 1242 women athletes and 1680 men athletes represented 92 participating countries. Some of the most exciting Winter Olympics sports that both athletes and audience waited eagerly were Alpine Skiing, Snow Boarding, Speed Skating, Ice Hockey, Ski Jumping, biathlon, etc.
Final Medal Table - 2018 Olympics
Athletes from ninety odd countries were fighting for their lifetime dream, the glorious Olympic medals. Finally, Norway topped the medal tally with 14 Gold medals and a total of 39 Olympic medals. Germany and Canada stood at number two and three in the medal table with 31 and 29 total Olympic medals respectively. Host South Korea obtained the 7th position with 17 Olympic medals. Olympics 2018 Closing Ceremony
The Closing Ceremony of the event was held at the newly built PyeongChang Stadium on 25th Feb 2018. There were many entertaining programs held including the mesmerizing melodies performed by popular bands like Exo.
Finally, among loud applauds, heart-melting music, and colorful crackers, Winter Olympics ended with a promise of coming back in 2022 in Beijing, China.
